Casting

Casting

The previous 'Behind the Bench' video went over the design and wax carving when creating jewelry; the next step is casting. Casting is the process of taking the wax molding, which was previously made, then filling the mold with molten metal. 14K gold will be used in this case. The wax is always lost in the process due to the molten metal taking over.

Watching this video will further explain with a visual representation of the wax rods, which are used as a carrier for the gold to the wax ring carving. Watch this video and learn all the extra steps for casting, including how long and tedious the process is.

Watch the next episode, 'Finishing - Behind the Bench,' to learn all the final steps to perfect your jewelry!
